Asia & Australia – Strategic Partnerships

Why all eyes are on Asia
It’s 2016 and Asia is in the throes of extraordinary regional development. Welcome to the global hot spot.
The magnitude and speed in which the region continues to develop is unprecedented. Hosting the world’s largest populations, and with a number of economies transitioning and stabilizing – the impact of such is expected to see Asia continue to grow as an economic powerhouse over the coming decades.
It is expected that by 2025 Asia will contribute to almost half of the world’s economic output (Australia in the Asian century, Commonwealth of Australia 2012).

Australia in the Asia Pacific Community
With geographical proximity, Australia’s relationship with Asia has been long and meaningful. As a major economic partner within the region and enjoying the reciprocity of the benefits of tourism, the ongoing relationships and connections across Asia Pacific are important.
Importantly, International education now stands as one of Australia’s top 2 trade service exports and shows no sign of slowing down. The quality and reputation of the Australian education system sees it perfectly poised to capitalize on economic growth throughout Asia, and therefore the affordability and accessibility of education.
The education sector has seen steady growth and in 2015 reached an all-time peak, with just under 20 billion AUD generated from International Education.
International Student Graduates: The Bridge
With targets set for 1 million international students to be studying in Australia in 2025 (Australian International Education 2025) and at least 10 million offshore international students within the next ten years, the impact will reach far further than economic gain for Australia.
It strengthens relations within the region, it generates a community of multilingual, diverse, cross-culturally adept young adults. It creates a generation of change makers who will drive the region towards this anticipated era of growth and prosperity.
A win-win for all.
